WSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble "Juxtaposition"

The WSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs a concert of contemporary powerful repertoire and compelling standards. Guest conductor Benjamin Reilly leads Percy Grainger's Molly on the Shore, Vincent Persichetti's Symphony No. 6 for Band follows. After intermission a premiere by faculty composer Aleks Sternfeld-Dunn, entitled Fractures. The h2 saxophone quartet will perform David Maslanka's Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Wind Ensemble. Timothy Shade, Conductor.

7:30pm in Miller Auditorium on the campus of Wichita State University in Duerksen Fine Arts Center.

The WSU Concert Band opens their season with a program filled with music that touches the spirit. Frank Ticheli's Simple Gifts: Four Shaker Songs and Abracadabra, Andrew Boysen Jr.'s Song for Lyndsay, Percy Grainger's Shepherd's Hey and Ye Banks and Ye Braes O' Bonnie Doon, and John Mackey's Undertow. Conducted by Timothy Shade.

Featuring Guest Conductors Benjamin Reilly and Keysto Stotz.

7:30pm in Miller Concert Hall on the campus of Wichita State University in Duerksen Fine Arts Center.
